electrology and tattooing to prevent transmission of bloodborne
pathogens such as HIV, Hepatitis B, and possibly Hepatitis C Virus. The
standards require prevention behaviors for personnel, sterile equipment,
and needles. The requirements lay out a set of procedures for different
types of circumstances. The proposed procedures include the universal
precautions for infection control recommended by the United States
Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the Alliance of Professional
Tattooists, and the National Environmental Health Association.
