Movie Boat Insurance
Movie Boat Insurance is coverage for watercraft used during a single production. A comprehensive marine property & Liability insurance program that provides coverage for filming boats, barges, platforms, marinas, docks, wharves and piers. Boats and vessels used in a single production taking place anywhere in the world. Productions of any size. Term up to 12 months. Multiple vessels on a single policy. Available in all states.
Movie Boat Insurance Coverage:
- Protection & Indemnity (Including Jones Act)
- Hull and Machinery
- Charterer’s Legal Liability
- Towers Liability
- Wharfinger’s Liability
- Excess Liability
- Transit
- Cargo
Coverage is available on a worldwide basis for both long and short term projects.
The Coverage is typically used to insure companies filming boats, barges, and platforms (docked or under way) as well as marinas, docks, wharves and piers. These insurable exposures are excluded from the customary property and casualty policies.
Of special note is the fact that production personnel working on the water are not covered by worker’s compensation but are subject to the Federal Jones Act. This exposure is covered on a Protection & Indemnity policy.
Hull and Machinery
Hull and Machinery protects the owners and production companies with an insurable interest in the vessels for repairing or replacing damaged, destroyed or lost property.
Protection & Indemnity
Protection & Indemnity is required when the insured is responsible for operating the vessel. It protects the insured against:
(1) liability for specified types of bodily injury or property damage and
(2) certain unexpected vessel related exposures and disbursements.
Charterer’s Liability
Charterer’s Liability is required when the insured is not responsible for operating the vessel.
Wharfinger’s Liability
Wharfinger’s Liability covers the liabilities of parties that operate or control a dock, pier or marina.
